I need some advice!! Please i will love you forever!?

ok so im not sure how to take this ... i went to a part recently and after the party the guy that was throwing it and his best friend both told me that they like me... i know that's a good thing trust me i was in heaven buuuut the next day my best friend convinced me to go hang out with one of the guys it was like really awkward and it just did not feel right.. and so i was stressing over having to tell him that i really dont like him ... like not even a little and so i felt like an *** and come to find out my best friend did it for me i was so happy and thankful and then she told me what he said.. " good i didnt want her hetting too attached" appearently he just wanted to get in my pants (he didnt) but my friend thinks its all good and that i should take it as a complement and want very happy whe i uninvited him from the party that im having next month... i thought it would be awkward ... should i take it as a complement or was i right to do what i did?
