How can souls and spirits in Heaven, 'hear' the prayers said by people on Earth?

God the Father can hear our prayers because He is omnipresent on this Earth. The souls and spirits in Heaven aren't omnipresent on this Earth, but are in Heaven. Even if Heaven were 'in the clouds' as many cartoonists have thought, they are 3-6000feet above us. Could you hear someone talking normally ten city blocks in the distance?
