What is he thinking that I just don't get him?

I seriously don't understand men. Let me make this short: We just met and I like him already, we chat a bit online, and whenever we see each other at school, he notices me and tries to continue our conversation personally, I shrug him off because I get scared talking to him face to face. Now, he ignores when I pass by and makes a look that is as if he's angry unlike the other times that he really goes near to me and talks for a while. According to my best friend, when we are at the cafeteria together, he stared at me. What's his problem? Does he like me? Does he hate me?
